On Journeying...

I was with a group of people thinking about the journey of life the other day - on the ups and downs and the detours and struggles on the way and how it all shapes you. Life is a journey of dreams, hopes and destiny. So why the struggles? Why the detours? When we entrust our lives to God, why can't we just let Him take the wheel from there on, ensuring we arrive at our destination in order to fulfil our purpose without a hitch? Wouldn't life be so much simpler that way? Wouldn't we achieve more?

Or could it be possible that God actually enjoys journeying with us? When we let Him into our lives, He jumps in and enjoys the ride! He knows where we are going and as I look to Him more often I will get a clearer picture too. On this journey it is certain that He wants me to take the wheel, to discover, to explore, to adventure...Not so that I become an independent unit journeying according to my own route map but so that I can collaborate with Him and be a co-driver as we plan the route and journey together.  It's not that He enjoys our pain in times of difficulty but if we trust in Him within them He works everything for our good. He is glad to comfort us, to love on us. He is overjoyed when we turn to Him through it all.

The setbacks can either produce in us bitterness or sweetness. As we face crossroads and turning points the journeying carves out character and brings our true identity to the surface. True perseverance makes for greatness. As we respond to His love we grow in wisdom and understanding. We become hungry for the Truth and the sweetness of His Presence. Because the journeying causes us to realise that that's all that matters. 

We realise that His purposes and plans are not confined to one single goal at the end of the road but that His purpose is woven into every step of the way. We realise that we don't have to grow bewildered, weary or lost because we can choose to step into His Purpose at any time. He has placed our Purpose and Destiny within us. This is not a quest to find ourselves - our uniqueness and identity are imprinted in the very core of our being - rather it is a quest to keep our eyes fixed on Him and who He has made us to be. To become abandoned to His Purpose and no other. It is a quest to live in Life and all its fullness.

As we journey we learn to become faithful in the small things and He trusts us with more.  We journey with Him because what we are journeying for is precious. 

If we let it, it's the journeying that draws out the gold in us.

He loves us. He cares for us. He so wants to spend time with us. He's calling us to cast all our cares on Him, to sit with Him, to enjoy Him and to know Him :)

A Bridge between Heaven and Earth...

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,

Until He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope,

The weary world rejoices,

For yonder brings a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees,

Hear the Angels's voices!

Oh night divine,

Oh night when Christ was born.

The Word became flesh by way of a birth which was both completely supernatural and at the same time so natural. That God would choose to take on human flesh and live amongst us is astounding. The all powerful, all knowing Creator God stepping to down to take on the form of His creation; Choosing the fleshly restrictions of the human form simply because He loves us, to show us that He created us so that we might live life to the full in these bodies that He knitted together even before our own existence - He made us lovingly, beautifully, wonderfully. 

That He would arrive without pomp and ceremony in the dirt, a gift to the people who could never have even begun to comprehend what this encounter with something so small and lowly would signify for the entire human race and for the rest of time.

The King of Kings humbling Himself to become a helpless babe - a new life that would bring fullness of life to all those who believed in Him, forever and ever.

That His Kingdom come today on earth as it is in Heaven. That His will would be done in my life and yours. 

He is Awesome, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counsellor, Lover, Creator, Redeemer, Forgiver and Friend. 

He is the Bridge between Heaven and Earth, between the Light and the Darkness, between Death and Life and He has made a way for us to go cross and take others with us.

Glory be to Him whose name is above all names :) :)

Love Vast as the Ocean...

There is power in the name of Jesus washing over us, renewing us, setting us free, free to live life to the full! (abundant life as described in John 10:10)

Lovers of His Presence

Learning how essential this Key to the Kingdom is - spending time in love with the one who is Love. All Life comes from Him and through Him. When we drink from Him He fills us up to overflowing. He is calling us to be laid down Lovers - He is calling us to fall in love with Him all over again. To soak in Him is to lay down all burdens and strife; to know that He is Love and He is all we need. It is when we pour ourselves out at His feet that He fills us up.
